When I heard ColourPop was releasing pressed powder eyeshadows, I felt like the makeup gods were speaking to my soul. I had fun for awhile using their Super Shock Shadows (a cream/powder hybrid), but I had a tough time using them with makeup brushes. While there will always be a place in my collection for cream shadows, it’s safe to say pressed powder is my main squeeze.
I picked up four shades so I could get a feel for the three finishes: satin, matte and metallic. Based on my first impressions swatching and applying these, I’m very pleased with the metallic shades, but I’m on the fence with the satin and matte. As of right now, there is only one satin shade in the lineup.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that ColourPop will add more colors to the range and not discontinue shades as often as they do with their Ultra Matte Lips and Ultra Satin Lips.
ColourPop Pressed Shadow
- Come and Get It – metallic duochrome rose with a gold flip. This applies much more on the pink side than I expected. It’s a beautiful color, it applies well, and the gold shift is stunning.
- High Strung – metallic dusty rose. This is more of what I would consider a rose gold, kind of that rosy copper hue. Like Come and Get It, I love the way it applies.
- Just in Time – satin soft gold. This isn’t a WOW shade for me. It’s pretty, but it didn’t seem to have as much impact as the metallic shades. I will have to test this more to decide if I like it or not.
- Popular Demand – matte red brown. The shade itself is beautiful! It had powdery kick up in the pan, unlike the others, and had fallout on my eyes, unlike the others. I’ll have to play with this one further. When I first looked at the shade in person, I worried it may be similar to Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear or theBalm Matt Kumar, but once I looked at them side-by-side (see video below), you can see they are quite different. This has a lot more red to it than most red-browns.
Did you pick up any of the ColourPop Pressed Shadow? At $5 each, I’d say they are a must try.
