Imagine my surprise when I opened the mail to find a weighty package from Make Up For Ever. Just last month I wrote about their new Water Blend Face & Body Foundation, so what could they be launching so soon? The answer: Artist Rouge!
The new Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge ($22) lipstick is a new range of lipstick with 45 shades: 31 Artist Rouge Creme and 14 Artist Rouge Mat. They are designed to be highly pigmented, non-feathering, non-drying and comfortable on the lips.
They breakdown their new range into color families and skin tones to help you find the best shades for you. I think this is a really cool, balances approach to makeup. I personally will be rocking shades from all families and skin tones, but it makes for an amazing guide.
- Nude: M100 (light), C105 (medium), M101 (tan), C107 (dark)
- Red: C404 (light), C405 (medium), M401 (tan), M403 (dark)
- Pink: C205 (light), M202 (medium), C206 (tan), C207 (dark)
- Berry: M102 (light), M501 (medium), M500 (tan), C506 (dark)
- Artistic: C603 (light), C304 (medium), C502 (tan), C600 & C503 (dark)
- Universally flattering: C211 (a blend of pink and brown)
On my fair skin every single shade really stands out. Here is a look at the shades swatched on my arm:
And all of the shades swatched on my lips:
So far I really love C105, C211 and C506. C105 is an amazing nude shade, I just posted about it on Instagram, and this is the one designed for medium skin tone, so imagine how beautiful M100 must be! I can’t wait to swatch it in person. C211 is the shade that’s supposed to work for all skin tones. I’m curious to see it across skin tones, and I think it makes for a great everyday lip color. C506 is the berry shade for dark skin tones and on me it has a dramatic, vampy effect that is going to be perfect for fall.
I look forward to testing these out for wearability and all that good stuff! Stay tuned.
