I fall in and out of love with nail art constantly. While I always love the look of nail art, I don’t always love creating it myself. It takes a lot of time and patience (and colors!). Before the 4th of July I was shopping at Walgreens when I spotted a few imPRESS Gel Manicure sets. The impulse shopper in me was in full force.
What caught my eye about this imPRESS Gel Manicure set in particular was the red, white and blue color scheme, perfect for Independence Day. July 4th is when you see red, white and blue cakes, and clothing, but I had nothing special planned for the big day. This seems like the perfect way to be festive without spending much money or effort. Plus, if they popped off right away, it wouldn’t matter.
Well, they didn’t pop off right away. In fact, five days later, they were still kicking. I’m pretty sure I could have worn them another solid day or two without removing them. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We shall start at the beginning.
The package comes with a file and nail prep pad. The nail prep pad is essentially an alcohol wipe. I recommend cutting back your nails to a fairly short length so they don’t show under the fake nail.
Each pack of nails comes with 24 size options! This lets you mix and match to create your own pattern line up, or allows you to keep a few extras as backup.
You peel off the backing, stick them on your nails, press and hold in the center and on the sides, and voila! They recommend that you continue to press down intermittently for an hour.
imPRESS claims the nails will last for up to a week. On day 5 mine started to lift at the base, so when I ran my hands through my hair a few strands got caught. Aside from that, they looked to be in perfectly good condition, and I think I could have gotten a little more wear out of them.
I thought they looked like they could be my own nails. At first they looked fake simply because I knew they were fake, but every now and then I would catch a glimpse of them and think how natural they looked. Several coworkers commented on them and asked where I got my nails done!
The gel/tape/glue on the nails is very effective, but easy to remove. When I decided to remove the nails, peeling up gently from the sides, it took me a few minutes to get them all off. On a few nails the glue residue was left behind, but luckily none of the nails appeared damaged whatsoever. The glue was very easily peeled up.
I am very impressed with the imPRESS Gel Manicure ($7.99). They were very easy to apply, they looked great and they wore longer than I expected! I would definitely pick up another pack in the future.
