Urban Decay has been one of my favorite makeup brands for a long time. I love their bold, edgy image, and they’re trendsetters. What did we ever do before the Naked Palette? Now they’re launching a new line of lipsticks (a very, very extensive lineup!), and I couldn’t be more giddy. They sent me a set of lipsticks and new lipliners , so I thought I’d share a little more info to get you on my level.
Vice Lipstick is Urban Decay’s biggest lineup with 100 shades. These lipsticks are replacing the Revolution Lipsticks, though most of the shades are being maintained in the new range. And don’t fret if you missed the Gwen Stefani collection because all of those shades are now permanent.
Vice Lipstick Finishes
Revolution Lipstick had a cream finish, so when Urban Decay expanded into different finishes, they released Matte Revolution Lipstick and Sheer Revolution Lipstick. Now ALL of the finishes (six total) are all housed under the Vice Lipstick name, just like MAC, which makes the lineup seem much more cohesive.
- Mega Matte – Super-intense matte
- Comfort Matte – Their original creamiest matte
- Cream – The original Revolution Lipstick formula, creamy badass luxury
- Metallized – Cream with a high level of pearl
- Sheer – A punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish
- Sheer Shimmer – Slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture
Vice Lipstick Packaging
The Vice Lipstick packaging, designed to look like a shotgun shell, is both an upgrade and a downgrade from the Revolution Lipstick packaging. We’re back to a traditional pointed bullet shape, a major win in my book (I seriously never adjusted to the rounded shape), but we’ve lost the weight of the Revolution tube and the glide-off cap. The new cap snaps on and off, and it feels cheap to me. What makes it worth it is that we’ve lost about a half inch in height, making it more compact.
The gunmetal look is cool and stands out from my other lipsticks, but it picks up fingerprints quite easily. I think most people will agree, the shade-matched color labels on the bottom that lists the shade name as well as the lipstick finish is the best feature. With so many lipsticks in my collection, it’s nice to be able to store the lipstick upside down in my acrylic organizer and know exactly what shade I’m grabbing.
Vice Lipstick Price & Availability
These bad boys are $17, which makes the packaging all worth it. The Revolution Lipsticks were $22, so I’m much happier with this price point. The new lipsticks will be available on June 5 at Sephora, Ulta, and Macy’s as well as Urban Decay.
