ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lumière ($5) has been on my makeup wishlist since it was released more than a year ago. ColourPop collaborated with Kathleen Lights, one of my favorite YouTubers, to create this shade.
I’ve mentioned before in my review of Lippie Stix in Grunge that I love ColourPop’s matte formula. The lipstick is very creamy and applies thick on the lips, with solid, full-coverage color. On days when my lips are ultra dry and peeling, I like to put something thick on my lips so I don’t bite and pick, and this is one of my favorite options. It lasts a solid four to five hours, enough to make it to lunch time without reapplication, and it doesn’t dry me out.
I love warm eyeshadow shades like bronze and gold, but I prefer cool lipstick shades. If I see the word “dusty” or “mauve,” sign me up! Lumière is described as a dusty mauve pink, so clearly it was a must-have for me.
What I’ve noticed about this color after seeing people swatch it on their blogs or YouTube channels is that the color looks very different depending on your skin tone. On me, the color looks very pink. It’s still a cool pink, but not nearly as purple as Lumière on Kathleen Lights. I thought the color was going to be a cool pink beige along the lines of Maybelline’s Warm Me Up or MAC’s Brave, but the color is a little deeper and pinker.
Even though the color is full coverage, you can really change the look of it with different lip liners. To make it even more mauve, I pair it with ColourPop Lippie Pencil in RAYEzor (discontinued), which, despite its on-site description as a “warm peachy nude,” is a cool, grey purple.
ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lumière has become one of my everyday lip shades, and you can usually find it in my makeup bag in my purse, a precious spot for only the best of the best.
