derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask Review

derma e Purifying 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask Review
Skincare is so interesting to me because it’s a constant challenge to find products that not only address my skin woes, but also keep my skin balanced. My skin is fairly normal, but I dry out on the edges of my face, and I tend to become oily throughout the day. To help with the oil in my t-zone, derma e sent their Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50).

Packaging & Application

The Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask spreads really easily across the skin. The directions say to leave the mask on for 5 minutes or until the mask is dry, and then add water and massage in circular motions for some exfoliation with the apricot seed powder. In the picture below  you can see the grains in the mask.

The kaolin and bentonite clays absorb excess oil and dry down. While the description says to wait 5 minutes, I find it dries even quicker than that, depending on how thick or thin you cake it on. This is the perfect mask to apply right before you hop in the shower.

The squeeze tube and flip cap are my ideal packaging for this type of product. You can squeeze out every last bit of product, and the flip cap makes the product clean and easy to use when you have product-covered hands.

My only complaint is the size of the mask. At 1.7 oz, the Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask is a bit smaller than most masks I’ve purchased. Most tend to be at least 2 oz. This could be a pro if you’re a skincare junkie and use many masks at a time, you’ll be more likely to use it up before it goes bad!

Results

What makes this purifying mask stand out for me is that you get an oil absorbing clay mask, a purifying charcoal mask and an exfoliator all in one. I like an product that makes my life easier! I was surprised that the formula is cruelty-free, gluten-free and vegan.

My pores are small and tight, which is great for my skin’s texture usually, but the follicles on my nose can get really congested, and if I don’t exfoliate and mask regularly, I get the worst blackheads on my nose. This mask is tough enough to purge my skin but not so harsh that it strips my skin of moisture. I rinse the mask off, moisturize as usual, and my skin looks and feels great after.

Final Verdict

The derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask does exactly what it promises, it decongests pores and lightly exfoliates the skin. It’s easy to apply, dries quickly, and rinses off easily. The ticket price ($19.50 per 1.7 oz.) is a little steep, but my advice is that when you find products that work for your skin, you hang on to them! derma e Purifying products are available at Ulta beginning in January.
