Bathroom Updates: Vanity & Paint

Xavier and I have been making gradual changes to our house since we bought it almost one year ago, but when we moved in there was one room that required some immediate attention and love: the bathroom.

Bathroom Before

When the former owner was moving out she must have cracked the bathroom sink (thanks for that), so that had to be replaced asap. while we were at it, a new mirror was a must for me. The medicine cabinet was a little (a lot) worse for wear, and the Lancaster White Framed Mirror we found at Home Depot was $75, a small price to pay.

Lucky for me, my dad was more than happy to pay me a visit and spend a weekend helping me spruce up the place. VERY lucky, because we ran into plumbing issues I wouldn’t have been able to handle on my own, even if I could have figured out everything else. There was a pipe that had completely rusted through, and it took five trips to Home Depot to get the whole thing sorted out.

Rusted Pipe

We bought a Glacier Bay Vanity with a beadboard look to the front to tie in with the wood panel walls (which I can no longer find on the Home Depot website), the Lancaster White Framed Mirror, a new silver faucet, towel rod, toothbrush holder, curtain rod, shower curtain from Target and a toilet paper rod. We spruced up the medicine cabinet above the toilet with a fresh coat of paint, thought I absolutely have my eye out for some sort of replacement.

For the paint shade we chose Behr Brown Teepee (700D-4), which Xavier and I still get a good laugh at every now and then. It’s a beautiful taupe-brown shade, any it’s much more my style than the vibrant gold.

Bathroom Makeover Before and After

Even if we had just painted the bathroom and replaced the gold hardware, it would have been an incredible transformation. The new vanity and mirror are MORE than icing on the cake. They ARE the cake. Mmm, cake.

My dad and I recently replaced the flooring as well, but I’ll save that for another day. This was no overnight transformation, and our work isn’t over yet. Even a year later, the bathroom has absolutely zero decor going on, so it’s still a bit of a blank slate. We’ll see where it goes from here!

It looks great Kelsey! My fiance and I are shopping for our first home, most likely a fixer upper. Thinking about all the work we’ll have to do is so daunting, but thank God for handy Dads right! lol
