Review | Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation (Ivory)

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Review

I always try to keep both a sheer to medium and a medium to full coverage foundation in my makeup collection. Some days my skin looks great, and I just want a base that evens out my skin tone, and other days my skin needs a little something extra. My latest full coverage love is Rimmel 25HR Lasting Finish Foundation, but I’ve been on the hunt for a great sheer to medium foundation to round out my routine.

I’ve considered purchasing Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation for some time, but it intimidated me. Its super thin liquid formula and glass dropper made me hesitate. How can something that thin give any real coverage? Finally, I decided to take the plunge.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation promises a break-through texture that fuses with your skin with coverage that’s impeccable yet undetectable, medium to full coverage, ideal for normal skin. Plus, SPF 20.

Texture & Application

This foundation feels so silky, smooth while applying and it really does seem like it fuses with my skin. It doesn’t look like there’s anything on my skin, but at the same time it’s effective at evening out my redness. There is a lot of dimethicone in the foundation, which gives it that amazing application. It has a natural, almost powdery finish.

The formula glides on the skin. It takes three “drops” to do my whole face, and I usually go in with a fourth to add some coverage to my cheeks.

I don’t see how someone can get full coverage from this. I have very good skin, and I still don’t feel like I can reach true full coverage. I’ve layered it up and up, but for me, I would say it’s sheer to medium.

Packaging & Applicator

The glass bottle is thin and compact. I love that there isn’t any wasted material, and I don’t have to waste any of my precious vanity space.

The bottle comes with a glass dropper stick, and the product is supposed to drop onto your fingertips, and then you apply to your skin. The problem is though, the product never drops from my dropper. I swipe the dropper on my fingers to transfer the product, which isn’t ideal (you know, bacteria and all that), but it works.

It’s so thin and liquidy, and the opening of the jar is so narrow, the product pools up around rim. A pump would be life changing, but it may not be possible with a formula that’s so thin.

Skin Type

This product is recommended for Normal skin, and I can see why. I have normal/combo skin- I get oily throughout the day, but I do have dry spots as well. This does highlight my dry patches, so if you have all over dry, dehydrated skin, you definitely want to avoid.

This lasts several hours, 4-6, but not all day wear. I would say it’s on par with a tinted moisturizer, it just doesn’t have incredibly strong staying power. The great thing about it wearing away though, is that is wears off very evenly.

The Verdict

If you have normal skin and are looking for a sheer to medium coverage foundation with a natural finish, this is for you. I would give this a B+, and I would repurchase this in the future.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation ($9.99) is available in 12 shades.
