Red Lip: Four Ways

Red Lip Four Ways

What do Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and I have in common? Aside from the fact that we’re super famous, all three of us love a good red lip. I used to think I couldn’t pull off red lipstick, but now I know it’s 50% confidence and 50% finding the perfect shade. I prefer blue-toned reds, but orange reds can be fun, too. Try a variety of shades and finishes and find your perfect red lip.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Kiss of Life Red Lip

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick 111 “Kiss of Life”

with Rimmel Exaggerate Full Color Lip Liner 024 “Red Diva”

This is a seriously long-lasting red lip. I get about 6 hours out of it without touchup (though they advertise 8 hours). Kiss of Life has a satin to matte finish.  It’s a middle of the road red when it comes to the blue-orange scale, but on me it looks very cool toned. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick retail for about $5.50.

Lime Crime Velvetine Red Velvet Red Lip

Lime Crime Velvetine “Red Velvet”

Red Velvet is a true blue-red liquid lipstick with a velvety matte finish. Wear time is incredible, and the finish is to die for. At $20, I’m all about this shade.

Aveda Lipstick Goji Berry Red Lip

Aveda Nourish-Mint Soothing Lip Color 930 “Goji Berry”

with Aveda Nourish-Mint Lip Liner  934 “Fire Maple”

Goji Berry ($16) is a classic red lipstick. It’s a vibrant, true red with a creamy finish. I love the signature mint fragrance. This shade is part of their Romantic Grandeur limited edition collection, so get it while you can!

OCC Lip Tar Psycho Red Lip

OCC Lip Tar “Psycho”

Psycho ($18) is a vibrant orange-red with a semi-matte finish. It’s part of the Lip Tar Matte range, but it goes on with a glossy look, and never quite dries down as much as the Lime Crime Velvetines.

What is your perfect red lip shade?
