Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H Foundation with Comfort Serum ($7.99) is a full coverage, humidity resistant, transfer proof foundation made with comfort serum and SPF 20 that is designed to last up to 25 hours. Base on an ingredient deck on Paula’s Choice, it does appear this foundation is slightly reformulated since we last saw it in its squeeze tube packaging.
I selected Rimmel Lasting Finish 25HR Foundation in 091 Light Ivory, and I thought it was a great match, but strangely this shade is not listed on their website. The shade did not chance once the foundation set.
I wish this foundation had a pump. I’ve read reviews from Australian and UK bloggers, and their version does have a pump, so I don’t know why the US version wouldn’t have one. Pumps are more convenient and less messy. This foundation used to be in a squeeze tube, which I think has a less premium look than the glass but is much more functional.
The foundation blended easily with a brush, but the texture was slightly tacky when I blended with my fingers. I think you’ll have the most success with a brush or sponge. The sticky-to-the-touch feeling remained for about 20 minutes until the foundation set. Applying a powder would cut that feeling (though you shouldn’t be touching your face anyway).
Finish & Coverage
I don’t know what finish Rimmel intended for this foundation since it’s not listed on the packaging or the Rimmel Lasting Finish product page, but on my skin it was a natural finish with a satin sheen. It made my skin look flawless and smooth.
Coverage was definitely on the full end of the spectrum, but not the highest coverage foundation I’ve ever tried. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most coverage, I would say it was somewhere around 8. I applied two light coats to mask the redness on my cheeks and temples.
Let me just say, I think the 25 hour claim is silly. Most people don’t need their foundation to last that long, and I really hope you all are washing your face and removing your makeup at night before bed.
Otherwise, this foundation wore great on my skin! I have combination skin, I deal with dry patches on my forehead, around my lips and my temples, but I still get oily throughout the day in my T-zone. Even though oil still came to the surface, giving a more “dewy” look, it didn’t dissolve the foundation or make it patchy.
Even though the foundation felt tacky to the touch when I applied it, it never felt heavy sitting on my skin. It felt like I wasn’t wearing foundation at all.
I am loving this foundation. I really like how it concealed my redness to make my skin look flawless and smooth. Coverage remained consistent for the most part throughout the day, and though I became oily in my T-zone, the formula didn’t breakdown. Though the formula feels heavy on my fingers, it felt lightweight on my face. If you have dry or combination skin, I feel that I can safely recommend this.
