Spring is here! And it’s about time. Last March I gave my vanity a nice little makeover, and a year later there were still a few things that weren’t quite right, so I thought it was about time to look into new storage options for my lipstick.
I had put my lipsticks in this little box, which appeared nice in the photos, but if you took one out, the rest would topple over. And then, after acquiring a few more lipsticks (how did that happen?), they simply didn’t fit. I wanted to find a storage solution that didn’t take up much room but would house most of my collection- I have 26-ish lipsticks, 24 of which I keep at my vanity and at least 2 are in my purse at any given time. I was also looking for something that was sturdy that I could keep around for awhile. And lastly, I wanted to find something affordable!
I found a 24 space Acrylic Lipstick Organizer by US Acrylic on Amazon. It was inexpensive but had a 4.5 star review- a good sign! Several acrylic lipstick organizers on Amazon appear fine, but the reviewers give them low ratings because of quality or the size of the lipstick spaces, so beware! This one though is perfect. The full list price is $17.99, I bought it for $15, and it’s now on sale for $7.57. They have 12, 18 and 24 space options, so you can buy one that works for you.
The spaces are 7/8″ wide x 7/8″ high x 7/8″ deep. This is shallow compared to some organizers, so I should note that if you want to keep your MAC lipstick upside down in order to view the shade name, it will not be stable with the rounded cap. My Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks are a just-fit because of the wide base, and my YSL Glossy Stain is a tight fit as well. The only ones that aren’t stable are my skinny Sephora lipsticks, but I have yet to run in to a situation where my lipstick was too wide to fit. Here are a list of lipsticks I have tried in the organizer that work well:
- MAC Lipstick (standing upright)
- YSL Glossy Stain
- Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick
- YSL Rouge in Love Lipstick
- BITE Lipstick
- Mineral Fusion Lipstick
- Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick
- Clinique Lipstick
- Revlon Lip Butter
- h.wood Beauty Lipstick
Overall I would give this 24 space Acrylic Lipstick Organizer a 4 out of 5 stars because it is sturdy, it’s good quality, and it fits all of my lipsticks, but the spaces could stand to be a bit taller to add more stability.
