Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a skincare company that had basic, good-for-you products with basic, good-for-you ingredients, without all the bad stuff? But there is! Sans Skincare values not only what goes into a product, but what’s left out.
I was sent a face cream not too long ago from a drugstore company that promotes a very natural image. Picking through the ingredients, I found that the product was not so natural. Preservatives, parabens, artificial fragrance… I couldn’t believe it. Just like with healthy eating, sometimes it can be hard to know what is good and what is bad. That’s why it’s nice to have companies like Sans Skincare that do the work for you. They even have a line for babies and children!
• Phthalate Free
• Paraben Free
• Sulfate Free
• Preservative Free
• No Synthetic Fragrances
And if you’re curious about any of the good, healthy ingredients they use, there is a great Ingredients We Love page that you can check out. Coconut oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil.. makes you feel good just reading through it.
So, it all sounds too good to be true, I know, but really, everything is great. And the scents! Let’s just get to it.
Moisturizing Sugar Scrub – Lavender (8 oz. jar, $30)
I want to share this one first because it was, without a doubt, my absolute favorite item that I tried. The lavender is relaxing and soothing to the senses. The scrub is very dense, so you don’t have to use very much. When I used it on my legs during my shower, it provided enough moisture that I didn’t really need lotion afterwards. I rinsed off the scrub and then rubbed in the oils.
I always prefer sugar scrubs for a physical exfoliant because they are gentle on the skin and dissolve so you don’t over exfoliate. I have sensitive skin, but my skin is also dry, so it’s nice to have a gentle exfoliant to use once or twice a week that will help remove dead skin cells while nourishing and moisturizing the skin. It was even gentle enough to use on my lips! I have a big problems with my lips peeling (year round, winter time or not), and this has really kept that at bay these past few months.
Scents: Gardenia, Lavender (I recommend!), Lemon Lime, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Unscented (earthy).
Ingredients: 100% Pure Plant Butters and Pure Plant Oils, Pure Cane Sugar, Pure Raw Sugar, Olive Oil, Vitamin E Tocopherols, Carrot Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Geranium Oil, and Fruit and Flower Essential Oils.
Whipped Body Butter – Gardenia (4 oz. jar, $40 – the jar pictured is a 2 oz. jar)
I am not a big gardenia fan, but even so this fragrance is lovely! If you like gardenia at all, you will love this. Out of all the scents I tried, Xavier told me he liked this one the best.
The consistency is very, very thick because the formula is so concentrated. Before I used up my jar, I was using this on the backs of my arms (these KP arms need a little extra hydration!) and at night on my hands before bed. It leaves your skin feeling silky and smooth.
Scents: Gardenia, Lavender, Lemon Lime, Sweet Orange, Unscented (earthy)
Ingredients: 100% Pure Plant Butters and Pure Plant Oils, Vitamin E Tocopherols, Carrot Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, and Fruit and Flower Essential Oils.
Moisturizing Sugar Scrub Squares – Sweet Orange (5 squares per jar, $15)
If the Moisturizing Sugar Scrub just isn’t heavy duty enough for you, the Moisturizing Sugar Scrub Squares are where it’s at. This is to be used like a pumice stone, so I used it on my knees, heels, and elbows. It’s definitely too much for the rest of my sensitive skin.
My only wish is that each square was smaller. I like the idea of these being for individual use, but each square is just too much product, for me at least, and after you’ve used it once, it’s just not the same on second use.
Scents: Gardenia, Lavender, Lemon Lime, Sweet Orange, Unscented (earthy), Peppermint, Cocoa Butter (smells like chocolate)
Ingredients: 100% Pure Plant Butters and Pure Plant Oils, Pure Cane Sugar, Vitamin E Tocopherols, Carrot Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, and Fruit and Flower Essential Oils.
Lip Balm – Cocoamint (0.5 oz. pot, $6)
The cocoamint scent was absolutely yummy. Like dessert for your lips. I wish the jar had a wider mouth to make dipping your finger inside easier, but other than that I really enjoyed the balm. I have been applying it before I do my makeup so that when I go to apply my lipstick my lips are prepped and ready to go.
Scents: Cocoamint, Lemon Lime, Peppermint, Sweet Orange
Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E Tocopherols, and Fruit Essential Oils.
All in all, I was very happy with the products I tried. The Moisturizing Sugar Scrub and Whipped Body Butter are the standout products for me from the bunch. I enjoyed each fragrance, but my favorites were the Sweet Orange and Lavender, while Xavier’s favorites where the Gardenia and Sweet Orange. The two scrubs come in plastic containers that pale in comparison to the lovely frosted glass jar that the body butter comes in. The frosted glass has a very high-quality, luxurious look to it that I enjoy. Each product has paper labels that are uncoated or protected. Being a new company, I understand why packaging might not be up to snuff just yet, but in terms of priority I would say labels would be higher in my book than the components. My labels quickly tore off the jars and the ink bleed from getting wet in the bathroom. I was very pleased with the great ingredients that are used in the products as well as the ones that are left out. I look forward to seeing Sans Skincare grow! These products were sent to me complimentary from Sans Skincare for the purpose of testing and reviewing.
