nyl Skincare is a 100% vegan, cruelty-free line which is chemical, gluten, paraben and preservative-free. I was first introduced to this brand through the Vegan Cuts Snack Box when I received a sample of the Velvet Transformative Serum in the March box.
They are certified vegan and cruelty-free through PETA, so you’ll notice the bunny logo on a lot of their packaging. Everything is hand made in small batches and delivered fresh. The products are made with only natural preservatives, so you’ll notice hand labeled dates on the backs of some items so you know exactly when yours was made.
Nyl uses the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database to check all of their ingredients and only use those that rank in the “low hazard” range. If you have never visited the Skin Deep database, I strongly suggest it. Where it says “Search more than 64,000 products…” you can search for not only products but ingredients as well. It’s very interesting what you’ll find out about ingredients in products that are supposedly “natural.” But, nyl checks out!
“nyl” is pronouned like “nil” – meaning nothing – as in nothing bad for you, harmful, or toxic. Nyl doesn’t have any parabens, petroleum products, synthetic preservatives, man-made chemicals, mineral oil, animal products, gluten, toxins, artificial fragrance or color, nut oils or nut products.
The company was started by a woman on a quest for the perfect, natural lotion. She found that simple products with only the essential ingredients can be effective and luxurious. I completely agree with her that if an ingredient doesn’t contribute to the efficacy of the product, then it probably shouldn’t be there! I love this clean, simple approach.
