I received a sample of FlapJacked Protein Pancake Mix in Apple Cinnamon through the Boxtera Snack Box. FlapJacked says NO to: GMO ingredients, preservatives, artificial color, artificial flavoring, artificial anything.
The mix is made using real apples (crazy!), whole oats and quinoa, so they are nutrition-packed! A 1/2 cup serving has 15 grams of protein, 7 grams of fiber and 180 calories. This pouch contains two servings and should make 6-8 pancakes. I guess I might make mine a little big, because mine made 5 pancakes (whoops). And at only 180 calories, you don’t need to feel guilty about that maple syrup. OR you could slather with a little peanut butter and roll up for breakfast on the go. OR you could have the best of both worlds and whip up some peanut butter maple syrup!
One of the great parts about this mix is that all you need is water. Bisquick calls for eggs and milk, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to make pancakes and realized there was no milk, almond, coconut or otherwise.
The pancakes had a nice fluffy texture, not dense or stiff at all. Xavier, who is a pancake purist, wasn’t the biggest fan of the apple cinnamon, but I’m sure he’d love the buttermilk variety.
FlapJacked has a recipe page where they have some great ideas for your pancake mix.
