April MyGlam Bag

Overall, I feel that the April MyGlam bag is a small improvement over the March and February bags. Was it enough to keep me subscribed? No. I officially unsubscribed today. This bag was decent, and I really don’t have too many complaints about it (other than the bag itself.. definitely the lowest quality bag by far!), but when I have other monthly beauty box subscription like Birchbox and Julep Maven, this just didn’t measure up.

April MyGlam contents

  • All-Belle Eyelashes – This product is so-so for me. I’ve never been one for falsies, but I guess now that I have a pair (and it came with glue) I might try them out. Unfortunately, the box is in another language, so I really can’t say much else about this product until I’ve tested it out.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil – They gave out travel-size “Ransom” (purple), “Woodstock” (pink), or “Perversion” (black). I was hoping for the black eyeliner since I rarely wear colored liner, but I received the purple. I’m definitely happy that I received purple over pink, though! I know a lot of people were psyched about Woodstock, but I could never see myself wearing pink eyeliner. Ransom is a gorgeous, unique blue-purple, and the staying power is fantastic.
  • DermStore Lip Quench Moisture Infused Lip Treatment – Out of everything in the bag, this is the product I see myself using the most. It’s a lip balm with the consistency of Vaseline. A little goes a long way.
  • MyGlam All-Over Eyeshadow Brush and Eyeliner Brush – I haven’t used these yet, but I just wanted to point out how small the all-over eyeshadow brush is. Below I’ve compared it with my Sigma shadow brush, which I consider to be a standard size. These seems more like a detail brush to me. I do like how this the eyeliner brush is, though.

Sadly, this just wasn’t the beauty subscription for me. In my mind, MyGlam and Birchbox occupy the same part of the monthly subscription market. The way MyGlam attempted to differentiate their service was by sending their products in a makeup bag every month instead of a disposable cardboard box. The packaging is fine, but it’s what’s inside the box that matter most to me.
