After crafting with my sister over winter break and making DIY wood inkjet transfers, I was itching to see what else I could do with the incredible Mod Podge. This shabby five-dollar desk I found on Craigslist at the beginning of the semester made a great canvas. It’s a cheap-o particle board desk, and you can tell the previous owner put a lot of wet cups on his desk from all the water stains and raised water circles.
I highly recommend trying this on a smaller practice surface so you can get a feel for how the fabric can pull and stretch.
BEFORE: stained, bumpy, and boring.
You can see there are still some imperfections. You can see a brush stroke near the front and a warped edge in the center front side. Regardless, it’s a major improvement, and the fabric I chose was perfect.
