Naked2 Palette – Photos and Swatches

I had heard rumors of a second Naked palette from Urban Decay, but I just assumed it was the rumor mill hard at work. After the first Naked palette was released, it was constantly out of stock at my Sephora and on the Urban Decay website. I signed up to be notified when more was available, but I never got any notification. Finally my friend Lauren from LaureNicole.com nabbed me one. It’s been love ever since.

Of course when I heard of a second one, I knew I had to buy it ASAP. I happened to be on Facebook when the announcement went live. I had an internal debate for a few minutes. It’s $50… but they are full-sized shadows… but I already have the first one… but the shades are different… until I finally just clicked the purchase button. And I’m glad I did! The first shipment only had a few thousand, but the Facebook announcement from Urban Decay garnered more than 3,000 likes in less than an hour.

I’ve read reviews saying how this palette has too many shiny colors, or there aren’t enough matte shades, or some of the colors are too similar, but I disagree.

  • The original Naked palette has 2 matte shades, and the Naked2 has 3.
  • There are several shimmer shades, but shimmer has no thick glitter in it. Chopper is a glitter shade, YDK is a shimmer/glitter color, and Blackout seems to have glitter. Three out of twelve? Not bad, I say.
  • I saw two colors in each that I felt were similar, but when I swatched them (see below) they actually weren’t as similar as I expected. Sidecar could be duped with Suspect, but Hustle and Busted have very different color pay-offs.
  • I am disappointed to see Half Baked in both palettes, but I think they were trying to make these independent, stand-alone palettes.
  • The new packaging is sturdier. This one snaps shut while the other one was held by a magnet.
  • The lip junkie is a little bonus, but I would have preferred to pay less and not have it.

The shadow end of the double-ended brush is smaller than the shadow brush in the original Naked palette, but I think it’s a fair trade-off to have a crease brush. And, look at how big the new mirror is! Could you own the first one and be perfectly happy without the second? Yes. But, if you have the money and you’re looking for a splurge, go for it!! I think they compliment each other very well.

Left to right: Fox, Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout
Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall
Chopper, Tease, Snakebite
Suspect, Pistol, Verve
YDK, Busted, Blackout
Urban Decay Lip Junkie in “Naked”
The original Naked palette is on top, and the Naked2 is on bottom
Sidecar (original Naked palette) compared with Suspect (Naked2)
Hustle (original Naked palette) compared with Busted (Naked2)
The new mirror is much bigger, and you can see the new brush.
